The population of Maharashtra comprises diverse communities, economic sectors, and social castes. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has taken a big step towards the economic progress and self-reliance of the economically weaker sections of each specific group. Specialized Economic Development Corporations for different communities have been formed to address their specific issues that are hindering their social and economic development. One of the major aspects of these corporations is ‘loan interest repayment’ schemes to help young people and students of the respective communities to set up business or pursue higher education by taking loans.
Three corporations have been formed, namely ‘Parshuram Economic Development Corporation’ for the Brahmin community, ‘Veer Shiromani Maharana Pratap Economic Development Corporation’ for the Rajput community and ‘Shri Vasavi Kanyaka Economic Development Corporation’ for the Arya Vaishya community. Each has been given a share capital of Rs 50 crore and their headquarters will be built in Pune, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Nagpur, respectively. Through this decision, the state government is trying to literally achieve development for all by having a greater focus on the poor and needy in the individual community/sector.

As said earlier, special emphasis has been put on formulating effective schemes for young entrepreneurs and higher study aspirants in these communities, to help them achieve economic development. In this direction, the government has introduced two important loan interest refund schemes:
- Individual Interest Refund Scheme: Refunds interest on loans taken by individuals for personal business setups or higher education.
- Group Interest Refund Scheme: Supports community self-help groups and cooperative enterprises by subsidising group interest burdens.
These schemes will be implemented by three corporations from 2025-26. Through these schemes, beneficiaries will get back the interest paid on loans up to Rs 15 lakh taken from national, private or cooperative banks. If the bank installments are paid on time, the Corporation will deposit the interest directly into the beneficiary’s account. The maximum limit of interest refund has been fixed at Rs 4.5 lakh. The objective of these schemes is to scale up the socio-economic levels of the poor and needy families by promoting entrepreneurship and job creation, and raising educational eligibility for high rewarding careers. People from these communities taking loans for businesses related to agriculture, small and medium industries, home industries, trade and sales, service sector and tourism sector will get the benefits of these schemes. Every year 50 beneficiaries will be provided assistance under this scheme.
These decisions of Devendra Fadnavis government are parts of a comprehensive development vision. The bigger objective of this policy is to ensure that no section of the society is left behind, everyone gets equal opportunities and every community moves towards economic self-reliance. By creating separate corporations for different communities, the government has tried to incorporate all sections of the society in the stream of progress. These efforts reveal a balanced, development approach of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis towards all communities.
