Medical Assistance of ₹12.16 Crore for Nagpur from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund
In the healthcare sector, between January 1 and July 30, 2025, a total of ₹13.81 crore was disbursed from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to 1,582 needy patients across the Nagpur Division. A significant portion of this aid, amounting to ₹12.16 crore, was received by 1,396 patients within Nagpur itself. To improve the ease and efficiency of the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund Cell, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis introduced a paperless method through digital facilities at the district level, thereby eliminating the need for the patients to travel all the way to the Ministry. Furthermore, applying various state and central government schemes, such as the Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana and Ayushman Bharat, efforts are made to maximize the patients’ benefits.
Training in Latest Technologies for 3,000 Students Annually
With a view to fostering both educational advancement and industrial development in Nagpur, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has implemented several impactful initiatives within the district. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with Tata Technologies Limited to establish a ‘Center for Innovation, Invention, Incubation, and Training’ (CIIIT) in Ramtek. This project, valued at ₹115 crore, will provide training in the latest technologies to 3,000 students every year. Meanwhile, a food and beverage manufacturing facility by Reliance Consumer Products Company is set to be established in Katol. The company will invest ₹1,513 crore in this project, which is expected to generate employment for approximately 500 people. Additionally, an MoU has been signed with Manipal Health Enterprises to construct a 350-bed multi-specialty hospital in Nagpur; this initiative is expected to create direct employment opportunities for 3,000 individuals.
India’s First Smart and Intelligent Village in Nagpur!
The rural areas of Nagpur have certainly not been overlooked by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Under the Chief Minister’s leadership, Satnavari—located in the Nagpur region—has emerged as India’s first smart and intelligent village. With the aid of advanced sensors, agricultural yields have been boosted, water purification systems have been implemented, solar energy is being utilized, and smart schools along with modern medical treatment facilities have been established right within the village. Building upon this success, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has pledged to develop 10 such smart and intelligent villages in every taluka (administrative block) across the state.
World-Class Eco-Tourism in Koradi
With a view toward tourism development, a world-class eco-tourism project has been fast-tracked in Koradi. To this end, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) and the Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (Mahagenco). Through this eco-friendly tourism project, the district is poised to generate local employment opportunities and foster socio-economic development. Furthermore, during a State Cabinet meeting held recently on September 9, 2025, approval was granted for NMRDA to secure a loan amounting to ₹268.84 crore for four of its sewage management projects. To ensure that these projects are not delayed due to a lack of funds and are completed within the stipulated timeframe, a specific mechanism for raising the necessary capital through the Maharashtra Urban Infrastructure Development Loan Scheme has also been established.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has also decided to develop Nagpur as a defense manufacturing hub and a solar energy center. To this end, a substantial amount of capital is being invested in the infrastructure upgrade of Nagpur district. At the same time, plots are being allotted towards the rehabilitation of 1,161 project-affected persons in Shivangaon. The rehabilitation process for these people is proceeding fast, with the construction of 600 houses currently underway. Furthermore, the government has allocated ₹65.80 crore to ensure basic amenities in the rehabilitation area.
Nagpur Metro’s Double-Decker Viaduct Enter Guinness Book of World Records
The Nagpur Metro project has emerged as a model for modern public transportation systems in Maharashtra. In particular, the 5.62-km-long double-decker viaduct on the Kamptee Highway stands as an exceptional example of architecture and technology. Constructed atop single-column piers, this three-level structure is recognized as the longest double-decker viaduct in the country. This project has effectively reduced traffic congestion, resulting in significant savings of both fuel and time. This remarkable achievement by MahaMetro has also been officially recognized by Guinness World Records.
A Smart Mobility Plan for the Future of Nagpur
The ‘Smart Mobility Plan,’ formulated to implement a strategic surface transport infrastructure for congestion-free, smoother and faster communication within the Nagpur city, is set to play a pivotal role in the development of the city. Valued at approximately ₹25,567 crore, this plan aims to transform Nagpur’s transportation system, giving it a modern and eco-friendly character. The plan proposes a range of facilities and options designed to cater to the city’s growing population and evolving transportation requirements in the years to come. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has spearheaded the creation of this Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) with the objective of developing Nagpur into a world-class city. To ensure the plan is truly inclusive and serves the wider community effectively, suggestions and feedback will also be solicited from the citizens of Nagpur.
Third Outer Ring Road and the International Trade and Financial Center in Nagpur
During a State Cabinet meeting held on September 4 under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, two vital projects, the third Outer Ring Road and the International Trade and Financial Center in Nagpur, were approved. These projects are expected to be immensely important for the transformation of Nagpur. A 148-kilometer-long Outer Ring Road is being constructed at an estimated cost of approximately ₹13,748 crore. Four truck and bus terminals will be established along the route of this Outer Ring Road. This project is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion, pollution, and accidents within the city. On the other hand, the ‘Nagpur International Trade and Financial Center’ will be developed with an investment of approximately ₹6,500 crore. This center will be established across an area of 692 hectares in the Godhani-Ladgaon locality of Hingna Taluka. This project will transform Nagpur into a world-class corporate business hub, generating approximately 500,000 employment opportunities. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Nagpur is now emerging as a technologically advanced industrial, medical, and educational hub and a center for ecofriendly tourism. This transformation of Nagpur will stand as a key driver for the continued growth of Maharashtra.
₹155 Crore Sanctioned for Hudkeshwar-Narsala Sewerage Works
Funding received from the Central Government under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme has significantly accelerated the work on Nagpur’s sewerage network. The foundation stone for the sewerage project in the Hudkeshwar-Narsala area was laid on October 12, 2024, by the then Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis. A total of ₹155 crore has been sanctioned for this project. By prioritizing the construction of sewerage channels and STP plants, and thereby treating wastewater to protect the environment, this area will be safeguarded against mosquitoes, malaria, and other diseases, enabling local residents to enjoy a better quality of life.
₹1,000 Crore Sanctioned for Cement Concrete Road Projects
During his tenure as Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis sanctioned ₹1,000 crore for a project under the Nagpur Municipal Corporation aimed at converting the city’s roads into cement concrete surfaces. Under this project, the majority of the city’s roads are being converted into cement concrete thoroughfares. Once all of the city’s roads have been concretized, they are expected to remain maintenance-free for the next 50 years. Meanwhile, work is also underway on the city’s longest flyover, which stretches from Shatabdi Chowk to the Mahalgi Nagar flyover in South Nagpur, and from Kamal Chowk to Dighori and Ashok Chowk. The design of this bridge incorporates pillars spaced at intervals of 120 meters. To achieve this, steel fiber beam technology was procured from Malaysia. This approach is resulting in a cost saving of ₹600 crore.
Homes for the Economically Weaker Sections at Swapna Niketan—Priced at Just ₹9 Lakhs!
The Devendra Fadnavis administration has paid equal attention to social and healthcare improvements in Nagpur, alongside transport and civic amenities. Through the ‘Swapna Niketan’ project—constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), 480 homes featuring high-quality construction and modern amenities were distributed to needy citizens of Nagpur in June 2025. These homes, equipped with solar energy facilities, were completed in a record time of just two years and were handed over to the beneficiaries for a price of merely ₹9 lakhs. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, approval has been granted for the construction of 30 lakh homes across the state of Maharashtra. With this objective in mind, officials have been directed to construct at least 1,000 homes in every legislative constituency within Nagpur.
₹950 Crore Fund towards the modernization of medical colleges and hospitals in Nagpur
Efforts are also underway to position Nagpur at the forefront of medical education. The ‘Amrit Mahotsav’ (Platinum Jubilee) celebrations of the Government Medical College (GMC) were inaugurated in 2023 by Her Excellency, President Droupadi Murmu. On this occasion, the State Government pledged a fund of ₹950 crores to provide modern amenities to GMC, IGMC, and other key institutions in Nagpur. This fund will be utilized to complete projects such as operation theaters, new buildings, a cancer institute, sports grounds, and other facilities within these institutions. Significant transformations are also taking place regarding healthcare infrastructure in Nagpur. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approval has been granted for 123 ‘Ayushman Health Centers’ in Nagpur. Of these, 83 centers have already become operational, while 27 new centers have recently been launched. Additionally, a new fire station has been sanctioned for Nagpur. Furthermore, a dedicated system for the transplantation of trees has also been established within the city.
An African Safari Experience Awaits in Nagpur!
Under the leadership of Devendra Fadnavis, the ‘African Safari Project at Gorewada Zoological Park’ has been launched, an initiative to emulate the ‘African Safari’ experience for the tourists with an expansive area of 63 hectares, featuring approximately 22 distinct African animal species. This project will position Nagpur in the International tourism circuit. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) and the State Government (Maharashtra State Forest Development Corporation Gorewada Zoo Limited) to facilitate this project. A dedicated fund of ₹285 crore has been allocated for this endeavor.
Alongside various developmental works across Nagpur, Devendra Fadnavis has also taken proactive steps to address the sensitive issue of housing and land security for slum dwellers. Legal land titles and ownership documents have been granted to numerous slum dwellers and tribal beneficiaries residing in Nagpur district. Furthermore, addressing a decades-old-issue the government has decided to distribute lease agreements and ownership documents to the underprivileged families residing on private and restricted lands. The successful implementation of all these projects stands as a testament to Devendra Fadnavis’s tireless efforts towards the development of Nagpur and happiness of its citizens. Nagpur is no longer merely a regional city; it is rapidly emerging as a pivotal city on the national map across key sectors such as healthcare, education, civic amenities, environmental conservation, and tourism.
