As the Service Guarantee Act came into effect in Maharashtra on October 2, 2015, Maharashtra became the first state in the country to provide services under this act online. Devendra Fadnavis had approved the State Service Guarantee Act in the very first cabinet meeting held after taking oath as the Chief Minister on October 31, 2014. Under this act, 485 services in about 38 departments were made available to the common man through the Aaple Sarkar web portal. On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis presented this privilege to the citizens of the state under the Service Guarantee Act. When the Service Guarantee Act was enacted in 2015, 224 services were notified in the beginning for the common man through this act. The number of services has now reached 770, of which 485 services under 38 departments have been made available on the Aaple Sarkar portal. To avail these services, the common man need not go to any government office; rather, they can get these services all online, including even complaint lodging through the Aaple Sarkar grievance portal. Of the 17 crore 63 lakh 62 thousand 468 applications that were received on this digital platform, started in 2015, 16 crore 61 lakh 3 thousand 909 applications were serviced till date. In the financial year 2024-25, 1 crore 66 lakh 23 thousand 275 applications were received, of which 1 crore 49 lakh 93 thousand 888 applications were serviced by 30 September 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through this web portal, the communication between the administration and the citizens in Maharashtra has been made more transparent, easy, and effective. Under the Digital India initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government should be able to directly contact the citizens in the digital age, and their complaints should be redressed immediately. The Aaple Sarkar portal was developed following the Digital India initiative, making various government services available through e-governance. This has multiplied the delivery of governance in a time-bound manner with more transparency and accountability, and with accessibility to even marginalised citizens living in remote areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The main feature of the Aaple Sarkar web portal is the availability of various government services. On this portal, citizens are getting the benefit of government services from different departments of the government. For services such as submitting applications for various types of certificates, licenses, etc., citizens no longer have to go to government offices; Application and delivery of certificates and other documents are now made online. Currently, more than 450 services are available online on this portal. Along with providing various services, redressal of citizen complaints is also an important objective of this portal. Various complaints\/grievances are getting resolved online through the Aaple Sarkar grievance portal. For this, a grievance redressal system was started. Here, citizens can register their complaints directly. They can also track their status. Along with these facilities, the facility of filing Right to Information applications online has been provided on the Aaple portal. This has made it easier for citizens to get public information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The process of delivering services on the Aaple Sarkar portal has been completely digitized. Due to which the dependence on documents has been reduced and the work has started being completed faster. This has helped in providing services to the citizens immediately by avoiding the delay caused by paperwork. Here, after applying for a service, the facility of checking the status or progress of that application is also available. This is helping the citizens to understand at what stage their application is being considered. This portal is available in three languages, Marathi, Hindi and English. Due to this, it can be used by all types of citizens, whether in rural or urban.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Aaple Sarkar web portal has been a major step towards progress in e-governance in Maharashtra. This has reduced the gap between the government and the citizens. Citizens are getting instant solutions to their problems. They do not have to go to government offices to avail the services.
